About six years ago, I ventured into the writing space. It all began with long Facebook posts that were geared towards sensitizing Christians on holy living backed with Scriptural truths. I should add that I wrote and posted these truths out of Christian duty as instructed in Hebrews 10:24 with no intention of personal growth in writing or blogging.

Surprisingly, the posts attracted quite a huge traction with great encouragement from my followers to consider starting a blog. Ironically, when all this was happening, I was on a blog reading rampage that had me learning the dynamics of writing and running blogs. Eventually, believing that I was well-equipped to start and run a Christian blog, I embarked on the journey!

Looking back, I’m delighted to see exponential growth both in my writing and scriptural knowledge. One of the things learned has been on how to hold the authority of the Scriptures as supreme. I’m aware that I capitalized on personal experiences and didn’t hold the scriptures with utmost authority. I quickly noted that posts on sexual purity were a favorite and I zeroed in on this topic, basking in the glory of the huge interactions on the posts. I had a new desire. A new goal. A new dream: to become a great and renowned author, at least here in Kenya.

As sure as the sun rises in the East, the Lord is sanctifying me. My outlook on life and ministry has slowly but surely changed to what I’d consider a more biblical approach. Of course, I’m not a glorified saint yet and I anticipate more changes in my walk, talk, thinking, and writing patterns in the future as I continue to strive to conform to God’s word.

This year, 2020, has ushered us into a new dawn. My aspiration, now more than ever,  is to be faithful to God and His Word. In lieu of this, faithfulness to the whole counsel of God will take a different approach from what we’ve done in the past. An approach that fuels a major announcement – we are REBRANDING!!!!

To begin with, our new name shall be ‘Tender Hearts’ and the URL ‘tenderhearts.co.ke;’. In the last year, I became unsettled with having my name on this platform. My new desire was to have a name that didn’t attach the blog’s identity to one person as I looked forward to the expansion of the blog. In the last month or so, we’ve been scratching our heads over a name that would capture the shape this ministry will take.

If you are keen enough, you may have noticed the use of the pronoun ‘we’. This is because the  ‘new us’ will have more than one writer. So far, we have just one new writer on board: Evelyne Muthoni. In fact, she is the brains behind our new name. Hopefully, in the future, as things continue to take shape, we will recruit more writers.

We have also seen the need to narrow down to making our outreach primarily to women. As John Piper quotes, “Wimpy theology produces wimpy women. In most of our cultures, women are known to be gullible to every wind and wave of doctrine. In most of the cults in existence, women are the most ardent followers.” We’d like to help women, through God’s strength, to be equipped by God’s word, to live holy lives, and to recognize every form of deception contrary to the gospel, the gospel that was passed down to us through the Apostles in the Bible.

Our new name, Tender Hearts, is inspired by Ezekiel 36:26. Ezekiel prophesied of a coming time when God would remove our hearts of stone and give us hearts of flesh. The miracle of regeneration achieves this for us. With our new and transformed hearts; we can love God deeply, esteem His word highly, obey His commands faithfully, and glorify Him with our lives entirely. This will be the essence of all our posts.

We will refrain from using our lives as a yardstick for godliness or Christian living. Therefore, we will endeavor to point women to Christ by using Scriptures as our rule and basis for all of our faith and practice. Though from time to time we may share our personal experiences, these are only for our edification and are never to be used as an authority.

I may have created the impression that men are not welcome here. This is false. On the contrary, your presence here is valued! In actual fact, we will most likely have men writers on certain subjects from time to time. The truths that we communicate here, although primarily targeted to women, are transcendent and relevant to all Christians regardless of gender.

Please allow us to officially welcome you to journey with us on this side of eternity, as we devote our lives to knowing God, living in a manner worthy of His calling, and bringing Him utmost glory with our lives.

Thank you!
